Could anyone 'kick start' me with two clues to get me started?
1 across: One accompanying sleuth has to accept ex-police Chief (8)
12 across; One who went forth in break: he's got seven more! (10) It starts with 'B'

I didn't finish this and I've no longer got the paper - but a few of the answers followed 'Captain' which was one of the Across answers.
