Thanks so much, syzzie. This was superb. As you know, I've always loved these setters (so many fond memories of The Atlantic). I starred eleven clues, and that was stingy.

I found this quite tricky, although I expect syzygy and aristo raced through easily.
I was confused by 10d. & 26d. until I realised that the letter count changes on entering.
Still quite engrossing and thanks for posting.

10D threw me at first. Thought there was a typo, re the enumeration, but didn't notice it at 26D.

A delightful puzzle, quite thought provoking and I also admit being initially thrown by not noticing the difference in the grid entry and answer length in 10d but once realised it did alert me to 26d.
Plenty of great clues with my favourites being 24d and 35a.
