Please help solve clue 4 down:Smart-sounding and award-winning variety of Anemone x hybrida. 7 letters. I think my letters are correct so: E---A-S. Also 8.Across clue Species name meaning 'tall' --A-- (the last letter is poss. A or D depending on how you spell blue dye plant, Wode or Woad?
I thought 4 down was elegans but won't fit in with 8 accross if it's grand???? Much appreciated

Well, along with the letters and word pattern, "smart-sounding" means it must be ELEGANS.

ELEGANS sounds like ELEGANCE.

Oh, I forgot about the second clue. I meant to say ELATA means "tall" when used in a plant name.
