Very satisfying crossword. I thought it was going to be rather difficult when the first pass of the across clues only yielded two solutions, but thereafter I made steady progress.

Just one I would like some confirmation on:
19 Girl lost old record (5)

Is L for "lost" valid?

Doh - just seen it - as in W, D or L.

hi Chris
I have just returned home and scanned blank grid for our friends who have no copy. First ones in are 12a and 21d so it may be all downhill from here...

Very kind, jazzy
My first two were 11 (surprisingly) and 18.

Down to my last one, but not sure of the answer ending in L at the moment .(19d) I wonder if Chris has the same answer.

Afternoon all, finished at last but I'm still not sure of the parsing for14 down, which I think is the name of a mountain range in NE Italy. Help in parsing appreciated, I get the tiny wee creature but do not understand the Spanish connection

LOS - Spanish for "the" (I think - not one of my languages!)

Thanks it all makes sense with that info as the first two letters mean "Make" and now it all fits, Ive tried Los in a translation engine and it does give "the" when working the other way it kept giving me "El" Thank you again ChrisE
