1a Graceful swimmer gets points while on a banned drug (3,5).
I've got the answer as sea horse - can see why it fits 'graceful swimmer' but can't see where the rest of the clue fits in. Can someone help, please?

compass points = s,e.
A banned drug - Herion is sometimes called Horse.

Heroin = Horse
