AllI need is this clue to complete can anyone help
15a 12 providing little sustenance (6)
(answer to 12 is "love story")
W-E-I- All that comes to mind is wienie or weenie for frankfurter sausage but I cant reconcile this with the clue. Understood that weenie is small and frankfurter is sustenance but where does "12" fit into all that?
Can anyone help?

Don't know what the clue for 12 is but, WEEVIL fits and used to provide a little sustenance for sailors in days of yore.

Not sure but 1a. might be Splash - s(P)lash
I found this definition;

"a prominent or sensational but short-lived news event; "he made a great splash and then disappeared"

How many letters in 9a. and do you have any yet?
