Sorry to be a pain but I just am not getting anywhere with the last four clues: I am grateful for all the help so far given by the way.

Equipment for miserly gamblers (4-6,6) (this is the number of letters given to me)
Many animals slaughtered (8)

Do you think that the answer to Unisex head preserver with a Welsh connection could be CARDIGAN? Not sure about this though.

also you originally said, "Many mouths nourished", required a six letter answer , then changed it to seven letters, and now back to six?
