Having trouble with last one in:

16a "His employer's taken in by the hard going Blunt" (5)

I've got T - R - E

I'm assuming it's TERSE (= blunt) but can't parse it.
Is it that the H in THE is dropped, and was Anthony Blunt employed by an institution called the RSE ?

Any help greatly appreciated
