I think I know the grid entry but can't work out the cryptic element for 8d. Receivers of gifts, men of high rank with taste primarily for diamonds (8)

Only four of the eight letters form the entry and I have three of those 'tee?' The other four will be a female of some sort.

I am assuming the grid entry is 'tees' and wondered if the whole word is 'donatees' but this isn't in my big red book, and I can't see the connection with diamonds.

Thanks everyone. I think you are in the right, Mamya, as the female will be gran, rather than 'dona' which is what I had thought it was before, but couldn't explain the diamonds.
