This crossword is incredibly difficult - hardest of the year?. I haven't got a clue what's going on!
Stuck with -
Clue 1 - In honour of sexy softy (6) with a misprint I have TOP somewhere in the answer maybe reversed.
Clue 2 - Writer's well, wearing kilt with pocket (6) again with misprint and TOP in the answer maybe reversed
I'm amazed I'm the first to ask for help with this one.

Unclued-
clue 1 = to+phat (softy=lofty)
clue 2 = in+k+pot (kilt=kilo)

Good luck-this is indeed extremely difficult.

Thanks both of you. I have now realised that the people's names have to be jumbled. Progress.....!

I don't think so. I think you have to know the novel, but am completely baffled. Clue E "arkwright" has to be replaced by "Noah" similarly Clue 5 "Sandra" might be " Black" or "Brack". Without knowing where these characters come from , I find it impossible/ Thereare 13 clues with Christain or surnames that have to be amended.

Arkwright = noah is just wordplay rather than a thematic replacement. One can see how clues are to be modified by considering e.g. clue 10.

Thank you. I can see most of them now, but doesn't make it much easier to solve. There are some very difficult clues

In clue 1 isn't TOP HAT two words - it hasn't been indicated. Also my first 6 misprints are LORUAT. Have I got one wrong? Thanks.

Top-hat can also be hyphenated in C. Yes, your misprints in clue 3 and 4 are wrong.
