Can you say how many letters are in the answer and if you know any of the letters?
(sometimes knowing where the clue is from helps too).

Maybe just an anagram of L(iberal)ABOUT and SIR(Gentleman).

Hi Pat.
just saw this clue posted elsewhere and noticed that you had omitted the word Retiring

"Liberal about to include gentleman retiring as worker's champion." works because, gentleman retiring = sir backwards.

it was kinda key to the clue (an anagram looked unlikely)
