it is this sort of clue that makes the crosswords so hard to complete !!

How long have you been doing the Times Jerry ? On a typical day, do you complete it relatively easily ?

Im gonna stick with it for a year and hopefully see the light !

a really good clue! unfortunately my knowledge of nursery rhymes is limited. I always find The Times challenging and usually complete four out of six, but this entails re-visits during the day.Jomac.

Dear Geordie and Jomac,
It is nice that one clue should stir up such a
lot of interest,I have been doing the Times xword
since about 1995,I have been doing the Telegraph on and off since the late 60's.It takes me about
20mins average,some days are easier than others.
My favourite is the ST Mephisto,and I have been
doing that only in the last 12 months.
Keep doing them,you will learn an awful lot.
