I have almost completed this. I have got the theme and the quotation but cannot for the life of me solve 16d and 20d . I have '?ASS' and 'N?ES' respectively . Any hints to put me out of my frustation gratefully accepted.

16d CARS = C(hen)ARS; CHARS holding EN

20d NOES = NO(nag)ES, NON+AGE+S

Made the mistake of taking 'HER' out of 'FISHER' instead of 'SHE'. Silly me. For 20d I should have used my Bradford. Careless of me.

Could you help with 26a Exposed thick tights, adding an ingredient to the mix (6) I have E?G (just 3 letters to be entered for the amended answer).
Looks like EGG, but what is the female bit I'm missing? Tks a lot.

Leggings (thick tights) exposed means without top or bottom gives you egging (adding an ingredient to the mix)

If you take gin out which is the female you are left with egg
