Are you sure the second 'e' is in the right place?

Young [little] eels are called ELVERS.

Hi Caravaggio, You are quite right, the 'e' was wrong (in another clue) I also stupidly miscounted the letters in the first thread, sorry everyone, and thanks for your forbearance. J.
