New to cryptics and puzzled
1 "Insults Eliot after topping flavouring for cake"
answer Affronts
I get the definition, insults , and the end, ts ( Eliot )
Where does the topping flavouring for cake fit in ?

2 "English not tucking into jam or paste"
answer Size ... how on earth does that happen ?
Obviously size is paste but the rest ..... ?

1Got the anagram but didnt realise about topping so thats helpful
2Never made assoc between seize and jam so have alot to learn here.
