New to cryptics and puzzled
1 "Insults Eliot after topping flavouring for cake"
answer Affronts
I get the definition, insults , and the end, ts ( Eliot )
Where does the topping flavouring for cake fit in ?

2 "English not tucking into jam or paste"
answer Size ... how on earth does that happen ?
Obviously size is paste but the rest ..... ?

Topped means beheaded or without first letter

Seize is jam minus e (English)

sAFFRON + TS topping = cut off first letter

SEIZE, lose the E
