If you gave us the clue,etc. we might be able to help. We don't all take all of the papers.

If 91 across is "jam ingredient" then the answer is "sugar" (I got this off another website)

I know I'm a newcomer around here, but wouldn't it be helpful if the hosts of the site could put up some hints on how to get the best response to clue?

Giving the publication and the puzzle number in the subject line, together with the clue, the number of letters in the answer and any known letters, in the message body would help everyone.
