3d Auxilliary note finally omitted from opera (3) A?D
Could be AID, but can't parse it.

AIDA, the opera

Thanks. I had twigged AIDA, but couldn't parse because the clue seemed to indicate removing not(e) finally from the opera. I suppose it means the note 'A'.

Frameshift, I thought the same, until I found out 'aid' is an acceptable alternative spelling of 'aide' for auxiliary. So yes, the 'e' isn't a factor.
