Is "skiing friends" a recognised expression? It makes no more sense than "water-polo friends"!

Why "architecture" in Tbilisi?

Agree had never heard of skiing friends, but letters from across clues give
?k?i?g,?r?e?d? And I went with the downhill bit for the skiing.
6d letters are T?i?i?i, which give not too many options.
Tbilisi buildings are presumably Georgian architecture.
Not particularly impressed by either clue, but would welcome any alternative suggestions.

It looks like your answers are correct, eiderjag - but I agree about the quality of the clues!

Skiing friends and Tbilisi both correct.
21a answer is two, as I thought, but no idea why.
