I am stuck on a few here, am going to Wexford tomorrow and would like to post my entry there.
(live in hope and die in despair)
01d Cast back heat, light or sound from a surface (7) D?a?e?? (I am getting the D from 1a mislead; lied DECEIVED.
12a Carries or drags ????s
16a Characterised by shyness and modesty (6) ?e?u?e
30a apart or detached from others; separate (8) d?s??e??.

1 looks like REFLECT, but that would need several to be wrong.

30 might be DISCRETE?

Thank you my friends, it does appear that I have a mistake somewhere. I shall exolain what I have (its all the left hand top corner of the crossword No 1330)
for
01a Mislead; lied (8) I have DeCeiVeD, the C comes from
02d Permit, agree, approve (7) I have Concede, the V coming from
3d Goodness; moral excellence (6) I have Virtue and the D coming from
04d Fingers or toes i have Digits, so that leaves me with the first letter of one down D
01d Cast back heat, light, sound from a surface (7)d???e??
07a Consisting of minute particles, very thin e.g. material (4) ??n??
10a (where the E comes from in 1d) at all times (4) ever.
12a Carries or drugs (5) ??e?s . (the S comes from 13d Strong swell of water ~ surge.

re 1a Mislead should read misled if lied is the past tense. Answer deceived appears correct. I think the setter has mistakenly thought that deflect means the same as reflect (they are not quite the same)
Your other answers appear OK.
carries or drags = totes fits

I think TOTES means "carries", but not "drags" - your HAULS was better, I think, jazzy.

Tote is shown as meaning haul as well as carry in the thesaurus

Yes, but I don't think it means "drag" - to me, at least, if you tote something, it must be off the ground.
