Stuck on two clues.

8 down: Turned to a shade of blue, with coat of dull red (10)
I have T - O - S - - - T -

19 across: The number one up? (8,6)
I have - H - M - I - N / - O - K - -
The first word looks like "CHAMPION" but I've no idea what the second word could be, or how the clue is parsed.

For info, the last letter of the second word forms the seventh letter of 8 down.

All help gratefully received please!
