Have checked previous threads and no one else seems to have been troubled by this clue! What am I missing!
5D: "Call reserve about sailor, like those who 23" (9)

I have BELLICOSE - fits in with 23 (A) which is "GO TO WAR"
I am assuming that the BELL comes from "CALL" but the rest??

Reserve = ice round os = ordinary seaman

OS = Ordinary Seaman.

Was searching for the "sailor" part - failed to come up with "OS". Might have been able to see where the "ICE" came from if I had got the OS! Cheers.
