Anyone doing this today?

Just started this evening. Solved about half of it but haven't worked out the method of entry for the ones that are too long.

The clash at 18A and 18D will start you off.
18A has its first three letters clashing with the first five letters of 18.
Definition of 18A is 'weapons'

I may have the wrong answer for 18d, Nelson. Could you give me a push? I know I have 18a correct. I want to persevere with this if possible. Thank you.

I have 6 letters for first bit of 18d, when I check which points me to the sky when linked with first 3letters of 18a. Am I on the right track?

jogamel, I would say you were on exactly the right track, yes. Can anyone help me with 23 across - I'm stuck?
'Pine strut on fire? Not quite' (6, 2 words) although it might be one of the clashing words.

I think 33 is the clash here, but have not solved 23a or 23down yet so there may be two clashes! Nelson, do you know?

Now done 23d, so no clash with 23a. 23d is another word for a guinea pig.

thanks jogamel - I've got tc for the first two letters of 23 across and I just can't make it make sense!

There is a clash in the first cell of 23A and 23D.
So you have to take away the first three letters of the first word in 23A, leaving the entry as CH.
And, take away the first letter of 23D, which also has another clash at 33A.
