John
Take it your RT has not arrived yet.

Took about an hour this evening. Either the clues were not particularly good or I am losing it.

Nothing really memorable in the clues except perhaps

12a Loudly conquers its product 5.8

No answers please so others can think about it

Hi Philip,

It also took me about an hour last night and I wasn't impressed with the construct of some of the answers so be reassured that you're not losing it! I agree with you that your example was probably the pick of the bunch.

It's strange that John hasn't posted his comments yet...

I was busy for the last two days putting up a new fence to keep the sheep out of the garden and didn't get to it until this afternoon. Took about 45 minutes this week and yes, there were some very poor clues. One always has to remember that the RT compiler often uses 'loudly' or 'noisily' to mean 'sounds like', then it's easier.

Hi all,
I have looked at these four replies looking for Crossword Help but none there. I have done the left half of RT5 but loking for help in the right side, ie 6,13,14 22.
By the way I do not think putting answers out will stop others looking for Help.
John's sheep are stuck to grass diet now?
Keep posting. Ta

Sorry flipper I do not have the crossword, but someone will surely come to your aid soon. Unless you wish to post the clues.

OK here's the original clues and some alternatives.

6D Qualified to return after second theme (5)
If Tom could fix the logo (5)

13D Secret drawer spun round (5,5)
A purr wends its way secretly

14D Guide to complete works beyond isle (9)
Steer to unsettle a nun without number and remove too (9)

22A Sauce from noisy French street (4)
Sauce or Xu pickle (4)

I hope those help.

Hi flipper2law,

I've only just seen your post so I apologise for not having replied sooner.

6D. A two-letter word for 'second' followed by a synonym for 'athletic' backwards. Horrible clue!

13D. An anagram of 'drawer spun'.

14D. A singular version of a word which is usually used in a plural form to describe tactical exercises carried out by troops. Horrible clue; horrible word!

22A. Sounds like the French word for street...

I think that you'll agree with us, when you've got the answers, that some of the Radio Times clues are poor and I spent more time on 6D and 14D than I did on the other clues combined.

Regards,

Caravaggio

Hi all,
Using all of the gen I (finally) managed to fill
up the puzzle. I agree some were a bit too far
removed from reality and the answers revealed the meaning of the clues - instead of the clues leading to the answers.
Thank you.
