to bigmadmarty2, I'm attempting the same crossword and pitted won't fit with the letters I have for 26d, the clue going the opposite way is ...some formal socialising too 4 letters, I put also from form[al so]cialising too thereore the letters I have for it are p*t*a* - for some reason i keep thinking potman (maybe it's pitman) thank you for giving me another thought for what the nswer may be
