22d. Showing ill humour, skipped the shortest course (5,3). This has to be CROSS CUT
24a Haphazardly set up with high honour in advance (9)

If cross cut is right, it starts with R. I guess advance= RISE, with=AND high honour=OM, becomes RANDOMISE?
Any help, as ever, most welcome, and thanks in advance.
