8D: Had kittens, possibly cloned.

I've got 'reproduced' for the answer.

Ok with 'possibly cloned' = reproduced'..... but 'had kittens'? I always thought that 'had/ having kittens' means being worked up by something eg excited or annoyed?
Help understanding the parsing of this, please?

Also 9A: Native American has A Lot Going On , Nose to tail with relatives (8)

so ALGON+ kin (+ relatives) but I thought it was spelt 'Algonquin'?

Thanks, andy and rusty.

rusty, you must think I'm being very dim!! I was so busy looking for hidden meanings that I overlooked the obvious about a cat giving birth to kittens ( hence reproducing!)

Hi elle

I wonder if 8D could be a 'double'. my cat "had kitten" = M cat reproduced?

Algonkin is an alternative spelling

Not at all, Elle! You are anything but dim!
I cant see anything other than the obvious in that clue.
Puck is one of my favourite setters.
He can be tricky, as he should be with a name like Puck, but always quite fair, In my humble opinion!

I did manage to finish today's crossword by Puck whereas I struggled with yesterday's by Paul (did about two- thirds) and found Wednesday's by Imogen well nigh impossible!!!!
