Love the reasoning jazzy it deserves to be correct but it's more likely to be the more prosaic;

Soldier ant + g(on)e

soldier maybe = ant
gone away from the borders = g[on]e = on.

i just knew that the two genii would turn up and confirm my nonsense. lol
