Stuck on 33a "Lacking part, vent energy where public displays are tolerated" (6).

I have E*UVI* (hopefully those letters are correct!)

Chambers online gives me ELUVIA and EXUVIA, but I can't see the connection for either.

Grateful for any help !

ERUVIM is an enclosure around a Jewish settlement allowing them to carry thing is public on the Sabbath.

ERUVIN is the plural but ERU = part of erupt (vent) + VIM = energy so I'd go with that.

Many thanks guys ! I agree it seems to ERUVIM although it appears not to be in Chambers 11th edition, which only lists ERUV.

Wikipedia and dictionary.com both state that ERUVIN is the plural of ERUV, just to confuse things further. However, a Google search reveals lots of ERUVIM around the world.

I remain somewhat confused but relieved to have finished 2577 !

Trouble with 25 down:    Vessel almost right for Mike of this parish, say (6).

So far, I have "SE?TER".

Please would someone explain it?
