I've got:
For 18 ac
S?A?E? ISLAND so assume it's Staten Island - my 17 down is Badinage - hence the 'A' in Staten.

For 25 ac I have ?R?P ?O?R - don't know the answer!! (Could it be trap door?? - can't see why!!)
