Trevor,
I think the answer is DIGGER
Informal meaning is a soldier, especially one from Australia or New Zealand.

thank you Puzzled.
I still don't understand the "Weapon's" part of the clue.
but I'm sure you're right.

I would have thought DAGGER was a better answer.

somebody called Baitress posted this on another site: "take the a from dagger and replace it with an i. this gives you digger, which is an aussie or new zealander."
Thanks to you all.

Hi Trevor,
If I read the clue correctly DAGGER is the right
answer,it implies one must alter the I to A.
Hope this helps John from A is quite correct in
my view.
Best wishes,
Jerry

Hi jerry
I think it is digger,because,
"Weapon's one for a"
so you get, Dagger's - then 1 instead of A.

Hi Trevor,
This clue is beautifully ambiguous,if as you
think DIGGER is the right answer then I have just
wasted a 1st class stamp and envelope,and I am
still not sure what the correct answer is so I
shall wait and see.
ALl the best,
Jerry
