Would you mind showing your workings on that one, helena? I can't see where ladder comes from!

The ROPE bit is obvious but I'm also confused about LADDER. How about BRIDGE for the "Rum" bit. I'm not a bridge player myself but is there a connection?

I suspect a typo. If RUM is really RUN then the answer is obvious. Perhaps Helena knew this or had an inspired guess.

really at first i mis-read it as being run, but after the second reading i presumed it was a typo error, but bridge also fits, perhaps zed could provide us with some of the letters towards the answer

Sorry that was a typo
Reading your interchange proved more fun than seeing the answer though.
The only letter I had was the 'l'.a

Yikes another typo - that 'a' just came for the ride.
Could one of you also tell me the significance of "About to work inside?".
