Help appreciated with the following.......

10a. Abroad I must see Sam? He may give me a ring (8) - ?E?E?L?R - JEWELLER would fit fit the pattern and the def. (may give me a ring) but I'm miles away from parsing it and anyway am not convinced (do Jewellers 'Give' rings?)

6d. Great competitor, leader in regular breaking of records (9) - ARCHRIVAL (Great competitor) but cannot see the parsing.

19d. Feeding a baby, now a graduate profession (7) - NURSING fits pattern and Def. but again, I can't see the wordplay.

23d. Shoot for damaging truth once (5) - S?O?H given that there are only about 5 words that fit this pattern and none of them seem to fit a possible Def., I fear I may have gone wrong - or am missing something obvious.

Also,

21d. Work strenuously by cutting box up perhaps (5) - EXERT fits the Def. but how is it parsed (or is it wrong?)
