Stuck on two - any help appreciated.

2d The greater part, that is, of historical novelist (6) M?S???

This makes me think the greater part = Most and that is =ie but I can't find a novelist called Mostie

12a Denys, perhaps, whose rule may have been, obey my collaborator (5) A???L

These clues intersect at the fifth letter of the first clue and the third letter of the second clue.

Thanks in advance

Thank you ! I got stuck on most ! At least I got the i.e. bit right.

That strengthens my thought that 12a is Ariel.... Now if I can only work out why !

There does seem to be a playwright called Denys Ariel - but there's very little info coming up on Google. I may plump if I have to !
