Thanks, helena.

That now gives me an A in my last clue to finish, which is:

Citizen English regarded as sympathetic (4, 5)

E - S - / E - A - R

The above looks odd - at least the second word does, with those letters.

I am certain the opening letter E of the second word is correct, though.

The R comes from the answer to
One-time players making extortionate demands? (8)
which I have as E X A C T O R S.
(I originally had EXACTING - which would give an N for the final letter, (instead of R), of the 5-letter word above.)

I think body might be right. The other answer looks like East Ender.
Cheers Isobel.

I was looking for a word that means "welcome(d)" in Portuguese but couldn't quite pin it down right.

And like Jolan, I was also thinking of port.

BODY = individual, as Jolan pointed out.

So if the answer is B O D Y, as it certainly now seems to be, then the "welcomed" is not literally a word we are looking for. Oh!

Anyway, thanks, folks! That's that crossword finished now.

There's no need to gloat Jolan.

Oh please, Terry! I rarely get a chance for a little old gloat, nowadays. Let me have my bit of fun, afore I pop it.
