Helena or Anyone Else,

If you are still on-line, could you tell me when you add to a thread whether you are redirected, in normal circumstances, within five seconds or not please. It used to work for me but doesn't seem to now!

Regards,

Caravaggio

the systme seems to be working normally re redirecting to the forum, my difficulty was that it was saying that one or more fields have not been filled in

Thanks, Silly Boy.

Perhaps it's the way I'm holding my mouth or it doesn't like me!

Time for some zzzzz.

Hi Helena,
Silly boy is correct. If the title of a New Thread contains one or more Inverted Commas/Quotation Marks, then you cannot reply to it.
JimC(I think)gave a good reason why this happens but the fact is that it happens and you will always get the
"one or more fields have not been filled in"
error message.

Yes, correct Trevor.

Every thread & reply must have a title. When you are preparing a reply to a thread on this website, the computer tries to automatically carry forward the thread's title to your new post for you. Unfortunately, double quotes (and other characters) in the title confuse the computer into trying to carry forward an empty title and so your reply is rejected.

Other than webmonkeyAsh sorting this out, the best solution to this for us is to not use quotation markers in titles of new threads. As the problem doesn't crop up too often, I think it's hardly worth anyone fiddling with computer code.
