more commonly we say;

Kick up a fuss

Having done this on line today I can confirm it is Kick up a Dust - never heard of it myself!

Thanks for that "Kick up the dust" or as you suggest "kick up a fuss" I am familiar with but never heard of "kick up a dust" however Chambers Word Wizard comes up with it so it must be right!

Yes I have Kick up a dust...bit odd but its the only possible solution
