30A Place hosting private group of musicians (6)

I have ?E?T?T, which means that DECTET, SEPTET or SEXTET all fit and all are a group of musicians. Of those only SEPTET has a connection to the clue by containing the letter P for Private, but where is the "Place"?

Is this a very bad clue or am I just having a bad day at the coalface?

Oh and by the way I have just cooked one of Nigella's Chocolate Fruitcakes and it looks delicious. Unfortunately it's for Sunday evening so you'll have to wait to find out what it's like.

I think its set for place with pte for private - and definitely not a good clue.

I don't believe you have a bad day at the office - just bad clues!

Hi John,

I think it's PTE [which I believe to be the accepted abbreviation] within SET.

Kind regards,

Hi Caravaggio

My pedantic streak is showing itself and regarding PTE it is the official abbreviation used by the Army for the rank of private.

Thanks. SEPTET is what I settled on whilst the cake was in the oven. I had forgotten about PTE being the abbreviation for a Private in the army, but it was the best fit.
