john (from arran)

Hi Sammy,

Unfortunately it's not quite that simple. You need to put HTML "font" tags around the text you want to highlight. It's not possible to type in the real code as you wont see it, but if you copy the next line and then paste it into a reply window, the text will appear italic, bold and red in your post.

<font color="red"><i><b>This text will be red, italic and bold.</b></i></font>

Remember that all HTML tags must be nested. In other words, the closing tags must be in the reverse order of the opening tags or it won't work.

Ha ha John, I learned it isn't that simple when I typed it and no red appeared! Thought there might be a bit more to it. There usually is!

I did learn how to do that kind of thing on another forum a few years ago but I have since forgotten.

This text will be red, italic and bold.
I try again:

So now do the opening bracket, then type the text, then I close this font bracket thing at the end

If the above is not red, I am giving up!

How did red turn green? Another one of those little mysteries.

That was the text John did. The bit I tried to do didn't appear in colour. So, yes, I give up now.

Ah but you reckoned without me, terry. The depths of incompetence at this particular keyboard have not yet been plumbed!

All this is very clever, but I am just learning to do joined-up writing.

I'm going to try it now:

This text will be red, italic and bold.

And now I've changed the font color to white:

Now, that is easy, Colin.

I know how to do it. Like this, see:

A-l-l t-h-i-s i-s v-e-r-y c-l-e-v-e-r, e-t-c.

Simple!
