Jo,
41a = snowy (take the odd letters from \"sun norway\" starting with the \"s\" of \"sun\"
38d = by-pass (by = next to and pass = ravine)
48d = hearten (anag of \"near the\"). lift can mean hearten.

Also, if you are the Jo who answered my 2 problem clues - many thanks,
John

Hello friends: Radio Times Christmas crossword has me stumped on two, so any help much appreciated:

25 down - Carol, Bostonian, rubs you the wrong way (4,2,1,3,2,4)
I have the following letters: U----/U-/A/-O-/I-/B-R-

32 across - Go into the middle of America? Nonstarter (5)
I have E---R, which looks easy but I can't work out Nonstarter.

Any help very much appreictaed.
Thank you
