43D M_R_ W_R_E_ "TV actor to loudly scratch underground system"

I think the answer must be MARC WARREN (a real actor) and obviously "warren" is an "underground system" - but I don't get the "to loudly scratch" bit - any explanation?

If you scratch something, you mark it.
I think "loudly" in the clue is akin to "sounds", therefore, mark becomes Marc.
