P.S. 12a. looks like CLUELESS but I can't tie it to 12b.

12b looks like CONVALESCE

I thought of that but couldn't convince myself that it rhymes. If you say it enough times though it does seem to,sort of.

Oh, I'm not backing out -- I'll just leave the 'saying it over and over' thing to you. I only know what I read on this board about these rhyming puzzles, but one thing that I've absorbed is that you shouldn't expect them actually to rhyme!
