One of the clues I have is simply "Popular" ,and with
three words (2,4,5), I have all the letters which cross,
and they are -N -O -D -D-U-
Surely the answer must be "IN GOOD ODOUR"? I can
find no reference anywhere to back this up - is anyone
familiar with the expressions of "in good odour" or
"in bad odour", meaning "popular" or "unpopular"?

Thanks, Ixion - well. the expression certainly exists,
but I still couldn't see any tie-up with "popular". It
must be an incredibly vague reference and one that
is hardly ever used!

Glory be! Thanks a lot, Shooty - that seems to be the
only reference to this unusual expression!
