Hello Paul - it must be something berry (Byre + r mixed) but - straw, elder, black - I can't see the rhyming mother - amybe someone else can!

I think its gooseberry. Goose as in Mother Goose and anagram of byre with an extra R in it. Hope its right

Mother Goose is rhyming slang for LOOSE. So, yeah,I would think GOOSEBERRY.
