57a. Three words: Blemish visible on a giant's face? 5/3/4. Logic says its Great Sea Scar. But cannot get the logic. Also the isle at 51d may be suspect.

Sorry. The Great Red Spot is on Jupiter, a giant planet.

The Great Red Spot is an atmospheric storm on the surface of planet Jupiter. It is visible from Earth and was first observed 400 years ago. Jupiter is one of the Giant Planets.
Seems like a good cryptic clue to me.

Thanks Rusty only just seen your post. Yes a good clue. However do not quite get KIlo-what's it to do with drugs?

Cedric, that is an "iffy" clue, if my reasoning is correct!
An island can be a "key": not far above sea level is "low".
"Announced" means it sounds like. Key low = kilo.
A kilo is a possible unit or amount of drugs.
That's my take on the clue and answer, anyway, but not a good clue, I don't think!
