Genevieve is an old name for a white topped wave, it could form part of the answer.

As a kid a mates grandfather used to take us sailing. As soon as a sail was raised he'd start talking "piratesque"
Eccentric old bugger he was.
Just felt a need to justify the answer, took a while to find that site.
