Hi Bob

In my experience you are at the mercy of the author for cryptic clues. Sometimes they are anagrams, sometimes the word appears between two other words and sometimes you just have to think outside the box.


In this case I would suggest BAD NEWS is the answer, there isn't enough in the clue to explain further.

I hope this helps a little. Have you looked at some of the other answers on here? It might help explain things better.

Of course Barb is right - that makes more sense now I see the answer. It can go so many ways when you can't see the crossword!!
