INTWISTING has 10 letters John, thinking INTUITIVE, anagram of 'unite it' and 'iv'. Several clues seem to require addition of 'iv' to complete, not clear why. Anyone shed light??

Morning, John.
7d. isn't an anagram - it's a synonym of raising men and raising money - usually from members of a club.
Hoping this helps!

Morning, Flummoxed.
The addition of IV is to fit in with the answer to 1 across.
Hoping this helps!

Morning, Numty.
For 14a, if you look at previous posts about the added letters, and put a synonym of deity in front, and "a" behind, you have a famous rider.
5d is an anagram of 18d. + "can" - old word for "stage-like".
Hoping this helps!
