My last clue and just can't get it:

2dn: savoury paste ?A?E

the only food term I can think of is "cake" but that's not a paste! Thanks for any help.

Thanks, Trevor. I had to look up the definition of pate and it does say "paste", although I never thought of it as such. Guess I'm not much of a cook!
