Glad you had a good holiday.

I'm not sure what you are referring to - could they be hyperlinks?

Oh, ok, thank you ---
interesting, on my screen for the past 10 days certain words have appeared on lots of posts in blue and are double underlined --- these words seem random and are not words that 'should'or considered to be emphasised for any reason --
I have not to my knowledge done anything differently with my computer that would allow this to occur. Baffled --------------- as ever x

I've been having the same problem for weeks - not just here, but all sites - sigh! They are hyperlinks, but advertising ones: usually offering prizes etc., or links to casino games. If anyone knows how to reset my security levels to stop these annoying little pests, please share!

For Bob's Mum and Kiwikid.
I have no idea how to fix your problem , but when I have computer issues, I post them on Answerbank, in the Technology section. Usually folk on there with the knowledge to resolve them.

Hello.
I installed an extension that stops annoying advertising.
Very simple to do and apart slowing some sites when they are loading (hardly noticeable) works well. Some sites work quicker once loaded as all the flashy advertising isn't running. Occasionally it needs to be updated. As soon as I see an ad on this forum I update.
It's worked well for me, read about it here and try it if you like.

That was supposed to contain a hyperlink....
You may need to Google adblock plus if your interested.

i had the same problem with random underlined word links a year or more ago. it was a bugger to get rid of.
i remember it was a firefox ad-on (still my favourite browser) which had, unwittingly, brought some sort of nasty thing with it. it was nothing much to worry about, just very annoying.
if you use firefox, try starting it in 'safe mode' and see if the problem is still there.
G'day Busby, i think annoying ads is a different prob, some people tolerate them on this site because it might not exist - at least as a free site - without them.
you can always use adblocplus and 'whitelist' certain sites, although i have to admit i haven't whitelisted this site.

The hyperlink will activate on this site if you delete the "S" from HTTPS before posting.

Necessary if you use Google Drive.
I often forget to do so. See the Harper's link:
