35 across. it lies -and lies not -within indolence 4 letters. had DOLE as answer but cannot figure why!!!! had d-l- HELP

Hi Jack, I got dole too for that answer. Sometimes clues are too obscure, and I just guess the answer or put in whatever fits! Don't suppose it matters unless you are actually entering the competition.
